Dr. Wasuge is also Associate Professor with the Department of Family Medicine and teaching at McMaster Medical School since 2015.

Dr. Wasuge has championed innovative approaches that remove barriers to education and create opportunities for children, youth, and families to thrive. Under her leadership, Munar has established strong partnerships with schools, community organizations, universities, and local governments to deliver programs that promote academics.

May-Marie Duwai-Sowa is an accomplished strategic leader known for delivering exceptional results in public policy implementation, organizational effectiveness, inclusive workplace strategies, community engagement, and leadership development.

A dedicated advocate for human rights, social justice, diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility, she has been recognized among the 100 Accomplished Black Canadian Women for driving transformational change across public, private, academic, and nonprofit sectors.

Renowned for her ability to build trust, convene partners, and lead with purpose, May-Marie brings a rare blend of policy acumen, operational discipline, and community-rooted insight. Whether advancing institutional strategies, mentoring emerging leaders, or representing national interests on the international stage, she remains grounded in the belief that progress is strongest when it is inclusive, ethical, and people-centered.

Her dedication to social transformation is evident through roles such as Manager of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at LifeLabs, Employment Equity Specialist at McMaster University, Accessibility and Equity Specialist with the City of Hamilton, Economic Development Adviser for Ontario’s Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs, Community Developer at Hamilton’s Centre for Civic Inclusion, Children’s Service Worker with the Hamilton Catholic Children’s Aid Society, Family Service Specialist at New Jersey’s Division of Youth and Family Services, and Refugee Case Manager at Lutheran Social Ministries of New Jersey. She notably served as the first Special Envoy for International Relations, Trade, and Investment for Sierra Leone in Canada.

As an entrepreneur, she has founded Juvém Hospitality, SierraCan Consulting, SalPro Consulting, SalPro Cares, Illuminessence Magazine, and is a mentor with Illuminating Ladies. May-Marie holds an Honors BA in Sociology from Rider University, a Masters in Sociology and International Development from the University of Guelph and Executive Leadership Certificates from McMaster University.

Her achievements have earned her numerous awards and recognitions, including Miss Fourah Bay College (University of Sierra Leone), Sociological Award for Social Commitment (Rider University), Diversity Champion Award (Hamilton Centre for Civic Inclusion), City Manager Award Nominee for Public Service Excellence (City of Hamilton), and Bravo Excellence Award (Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food & Rural Affairs).

May-Marie currently resides in Canada with her family.

Mohamed is a Hamilton-based technology leader whose career has always been rooted in community.

He began his professional life as a youth worker with SISO, supporting newcomer youth through sport, homework, and the everyday challenges of settling into a new home. It was grounding work that has informed his values ever since.

From there, his career took him around the world in media broadcasting — designing and commissioning complex broadcast systems for major media organizations. He now serves as a Solutions Architect at a media integration firm, partnering with leading media houses to deliver large-scale technology projects.

He has called Hamilton home his whole life, and the connections and commitments that come with that run deep. He joins this board with a genuine investment in seeing this community thrive.

Muna Mohamed is passionate about creating better access to education for communities that are often overlooked. She holds a Master’s in Global Governance from the University of Waterloo, and his work sits at the intersection of policy and real-world impact. Over the past five years, Muna has worked closely with newcomer and racialized youth, supporting them in navigating education systems and building confidence in their paths forward. Her experiences have shaped a deep commitment to equity and a belief that opportunity should be accessible to everyone.

Fardosa is a dedicated Early Childhood Educator with over 15 years of experience designing and managing inclusive early learning programs in the Greater Hamilton Area. As a Director and business owner, she cares for the  Community's Well-Being,  she oversees licensed child care programs and EarlyON Child and Family Centres across downtown Hamilton. Her leadership is heavily informed by Ontario’s How Does Learning Happen? framework, focusing on embedding holistic emotional and physical well-being of young children.
